McDonalds Wholesalers is the biggest food service provider in the Mid-West region of Western Australia. Trading for over 35 years, we are now a third generation family business and proud members of Countrywide Food Service Group and The Distributors. We deliver within a 400km radius- North, South and inland of the warehouses in our fleet; we have three sales representatives on the road and offer a cash and carry facility for the public.
We have an extensive range of over 6,500 products in our two warehouse facilities in Geraldton consisting of freezer, chiller and dry goods. Our partnerships with Harvey Fresh Milk and Smith’s Snackfood have helped us establish strong distribution channels, with a huge range of confectionery, snacks and beverages from leading brands also on offer.
Additionally, we provide a kitchen fit out service with our experienced hospitality equipment specialists, supplying and installing all your commercial kitchen equipment and offering a full range of crockery, cutlery and cookware.
In 2016, we partnered with Silver Chef Equipment Finance.
How did you first hear about our service?
Through our alliance with the Distributor Group.
What challenges/problems in your business necessitated a change?
With the implementation of Inzant Sales – it was to reduce the paper-based sales orders and move to an integrated order system. The implementation of the website was to upgrade from our previous website. It was expensive and costly to maintain, lacked images and did not have any room to develop further. Information was loaded with a TXT portal.
What trends in your industry drove the need to use our product?
Definitely visual based consumerism – the client needing to SEE the product before they purchased. Also, the ability to access everything online now and view it on a tablet/device-friendly capacity.
What were you looking for in a solution?
Something we could maintain and update ourselves; something visually appealing as well as easy to use for our clients. We wanted a website that could transition from device to desktop and wanted to work with a company that we felt were going to make progressive changes (not stay stagnant in the market) and continue to develop their products and create new ones. IT can be a scary area, so having a team to work with that has strong knowledge in the industry and its products is a really reassuring and powerful relationship-building mechanism.
What made our solution stand out over others that you researched?
Price and service for us. Also, we resonated with the family appeal Inzant has going on. The hosting fees we were paying on our old website were exorbitant and the integration with our data system has been fantastic. When we were uploading our images, the transition we were offered was really supportive and the project was less daunting.
What feature of our product was most appealing?
The ability to have both our website and sales rep programs integrated into one CMS.
How did you implement/introduce our solution?
We did a gradual move across to the new website, updating all of the content and loading all of the images. We then did a cutover day from the old to new.
How did our team help with implementation?
The team was fantastic with the implementation of the new systems. They provided advice on how to upload content faster and gave us options to look at other users’ websites and make changes where we needed.
What was the initial reaction to our product?
I loved the product from the start- it was simple but engaging, easy to operate and visually appealing. It did everything we needed it to do (I didn’t feel like there were any gaps) and it was a huge upgrade from our previous website. The back-end needed a bit of work, but that’s coming shortly, so that’s great.
Has this solution saved money and/or increased productivity?
100% yes! It’s actually cut our admin team down by two people (which in itself is incredible). It’s also changed our focus into more marketing and customer appeal for our business, which has really set us apart from other wholesalers. We are changing the forefront of the industry and pushing for a bigger market share of domestic cash and carry customers; having a website as accessible as ours has definitely contributed to that increased awareness.
What have you been most impressed with?
The value for money. The service and hosting fees are all very economical. I’ve been surprised by the relationships I’ve made and just the overall service at Inzant is always friendly, and you feel like friends which is really great. I feel as though Inzant really care about their business and their products and that ownership is always comforting because we know they will get looked after and developed; that in turn will make our experience better and our users’ experience better.
What plans do you have to use our solution in the future?
At the moment we are excited about the new CMS portal that’s being implemented, as well as features such as price rolling and getting a few creases ironed out in our web platform. One day we would like to be able to explore the freight/online, shop/online pay component of the website, but that’s currently a pie in the sky dream.
